Fiber Art by Sandi Garris

A scuba diver and world traveler, fiber artist Sandi Garris imbues her colorful work with her passion for exotic cultures and natural patterns. Inspired by rich coral reefs and lush rain forests, Garris mixes red, yellow, and blue MX dyes to create hundreds of hues and shades to color the fabrics used in her organically graphic artwork.

Readers Garden Now Open

Our Readers Garden is now open! The entrance is just past the CATA office, on Beaver. You will find a small, quiet spot to rest during the hectic Festival days, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Two new benches are installed in memory of Peter Lang. This is the first time we have opened the garden to the public - enjoy! (No pets, please!)

Parking and Due Dates during Arts Fest

The 2011 Central Pensylvania Festival of the Arts will be held July 13-17 in downtown State College. Schlow Library's parking lot will be open Monday, July 11 and Tuesday, July 12 but during these days you must enter through the parking lot exit in the alley behind Mad Mex and the Days Inn. Schlow's parking lot will be closed the rest of the week and will reopen Monday, July 18. For your convenience no library materials will be due during the week of Arts Fest. The loan time will be extended until Monday, July 18. If you want to avoid the crowds and chaos of Arts Fest but still take advantage of Schlow's multitude of resources, remember Schlow Online is open 24/7!
